Daily Life In Ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt different social classes have different daily lives. If you are in the highest social class and are a Pharaoh, your life will be very different than if you are a Farmer, one of the lowest social classes.
Daily Life of a Pharaoh
Since the Pharaohs were part of the highest social class, they had a very easy daily routine compared to some of the lower classes. The Pharaohs wore huge amounts of jewelry. The food that they ate the most was Bull’s Throat. The Pharaohs lived in temples, and had servants that did everything for them. The Pharaoh spent his free time visiting construction sites built in his honor and taking tours of the city in his chariot. His only jobs were to hold daily meetings, pay tribute to the chef, and be the God of the Temple. The only thing he really did was be a leader, but that was enough to make him the top of the social classes.
Daily Life of the Noblemen
The noblemen also had a pretty simple daily life. The noblemen wore long white linen robes, or a fine linen kilt and leather sandals. They ate foods such as bread, fruits, wine, geese, ducks, fresh fish, roasted ox, goats, and gazelles. The noblemen usually lived in a townhouse in a beautiful neighborhood, and spent their free time sitting in the shade of the garden watching their children play. They only had two jobs, and they were to crush grapes to make wine, and hunt wild fowl. They used things such as a small gong, papyrus, a chariot, and a basket to help them get through their daily duties.
Daily Life of a Priest
The Priests’ day involved lots of religious activities. They shaved their heads to show their religion, and usually wore clothes made of linen or cloth. The priests’ meals usually consisted of bread, roasted meat, fruits, vegetables, beer, and wine. Like the Pharaohs, the priests’ also lived in a temple. On their free time, the priests’ attended different funerals, and church ceremonies. The only job that a priest had to do was to oversee religious ceremonies, and and advise the Pharaoh. The priests’ had a very simple and easy daily routine.
Daily Life of Craftsmen and Workers
The Craftsmen were the average people in Ancient Egypt. They wore things such as clothes that covered the head and waist. They had meals with things such as figs, dates, bread, butter, honey, milk, wine, fish, roasted meat, lentils, and carrots. The Craftsmen and workers lived in a simple house in a neighborhood of many other Workers. On their free time they played a board game called senit. Their jobs were to build new temples for the Pharaoh and go to meetings. The Craftsmen had a day full of hard work and building.

The soldiers mostly fought in wars on a daily basis. The clothes they wore consisted of lots of armour to protect them. They ate meals that had things such as lentils, garlic, and bread. The Soldiers lived in their leader's home, and spent their free time fighting in wars. Their only job or responsibility was to win the wars that they were fighting in.
Daily life of a Farmer
Farmers had a very busy day to day life. When they woke up they put on a coarse linen kit, and a pair of red sandals. They ate a simple breakfast of bread and fruit. And later they would eat fish, and bread, and they would drink water and have beer for dinner. They lived in simple houses made of mud bricks, and had woven mats for furniture. They spent their free time playing games in the water, like the men would knock each other off woven rafts as a fun game they played. For the farmers jobs and responsibilities they would grind wheat, sow the fields, they would also scatter seeds in the field to grow their crops. They had to care for their cattle also. They used baskets and donkeys to carry things around. Overall, farmers had a very busy and hard day of work.

They were responsible for doing the laundry, making bread, and breakfast, taking care of her children, and making a fire. They had a lot to do and take care of around their home. Some of the tools of trade that women used are clay beads no make necklaces, and of course they need an oven to bake bread in. Women also have a very busy day.
